True Preventative Dental Cleaning (No Extractions Needed)

A preventative dental cleaning, before dental disease starts to eat away at the surrounding bone and calculus starts to do real damage to the teeth is the best way to prevent tooth extractions from being needed. Scaling & polishing efficienty remove tartar from above & below the gumline, and including dental radiographs in every procedure we do ensures we aren’t missing hidden issues that may lie beneath the surface. Conditions like tooth root fractures, abscesses, and bone loss often can’t be seen on a visual examination, but can have significant impact on your pet’s oral health and comfort. Our hope is that we don’t find anything concerning on x-rays – but if we do, we’ll call you during the procedure to let you know and talk about next steps.

Doctor Driven, Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment & Treatment

A comprehensive oral health assessment & treatment plan is vital to your pet’s overall health and well-being. It begins with a detailed oral examination under anesthesia, allowing the veterinarian to identify dental and oral issues that may not be visible during a routine (awake) examination. Dental radiographs (x-rays) play an important role, too, allowing the vet to evaluate tooth roots and surrounding bone structures. These can reveal hidden problems, such as fractures, abscesses, or bone loss, that require immediate attention.

Based on the findings, your veterinarian can then perform essential treatments – including tooth extractions for damaged teeth and addressing gingival abnormalities. If an oral mass is found, it can be removed to ensure a timely diagnosis and treatment of potential serious conditions.

This procedure is the gold standard for pets with significant dental disease. It also includes a thorough cleaning both above & below the gum line, removing harmful plaque & tartar that contribute to periodontal disease, preventing gingivitis, tooth decay, and systemic infections that can impact other organs, such as the heart.
